Party Like A Rock Star…

Rock Star Blanc

Living in the Caribbean can be tough sometimes. Imagine a land of perpetual summer, sunny skies and 80 degree weather. Every day. All year long. Some people like to deal with such hardship by swimming in the bath-water like Caribbean ocean, or diving into it’s depths, or surfing, parasailing, kiteboarding, sailing or one of the many other ways to take your mind off the beautiful weather. Life is tough. For my distraction I enjoy a good book and a bottle of white wine on the beach. My new favorite beach wine is a tasty, affordable little number from Rock Wall Wines, which brings us Rock Star Blanc.

A light, refreshing blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Chardonnay, this crisp wine incorporates the subtle nuances of a fragrant Californian Sauv Blanc and the round boldness of a classic California Chard. No easy task, by any means, but this wine somehow stimulates both needs of the palette simultaneously.  The first time we tried Rock Star Blanc, we drank it at warehouse temperature (between 64 and 68 degrees or so) and it was brilliant. The warmer temperature allowed the flavors of the wine to fully bloom and incorporate. In later tastings we iced down the RSB and found that some of the nuanced beauty of the Chardonnay was lost to the chilled crispness of the Sauv Blanc. In subsequent tastings we have allowed the wine to come straight from our walk in refrigerator and be served from a red wine cooler which stays at about 62 degrees. The first couple sips may be a little chilly, but by the middle of the glass your mouth will pick up all the best things that Rock Star Blanc has to offer.

We had the pleasure of meeting Shauna Rosenblum and her kick ass staff at a wine event a couple weeks ago. They definitely lived up to the name of their wine…

You can find Rock Star Blanc and several other Rock Wall wines at various Restaurants around the island.
