Loyalty on St. Patrick’s Day

There’s something to be said for Old Faithful. You know that drink, the one you can always trust to whet your whistle. Your fall-back drink for when you’re indecisive or the bar is too busy to try for something complicated. The option that never fails to deliver.

When I walk into a bar for the first time, my eyes always jump to the back shelf, searching for my favorite green bottle.  When I find it, usually squirreled away amongst the blended whiskies, I feel a sense of comfort that no other bottle provides. Those who know me don’t even ask anymore. When I walk in, the first thing I see is that beautiful bottle coming of the shelf to meet me. The beast of Ireland itself, John Jameson’s Irish Whiskey.

It’s my constant. It completes me.

Hell yes I stole this image. My empty bottles are all recycled 'cause I'm from Oregon.

Jameson is brand rich in history, established long before I took my first tipple, and yet I still feel like it is somehow inherently mine. It’s that personal relationship that makes me protective and proud.

So remember kiddos, while your out raising hell today…

(or in STX’ers case, from now until 3:30 Saturday afternoon when you pass out in the back of Club 54 before Banooba goes on)

Try and remain loyal to the spirit of the holiday and drink Irish. Drink Jameson.
(Because honestly, what the hell does Heineken have to do with St. Paddy’s?)

Unless…

The price is right.

One too many: Rants
